A Right     11/3/13

Borrowed from the Tom Sullivan show last night:

Democrats contend that health care is a right, and therefore we must all be forced to buy health insurance.

The Constitution says everyone has a right to a gun.  Do the Democrats therefore want to force everyone to buy a gun?

Description of a right (not necessarily a definition):

A right does not cost anyone anything. It does not cost the government anything.

The right to free speech does not cost the government anything.

The right to free press does not cost the government anything.

The right to freedom of religion does not cost the government anything.

The right to bare arms does not cost the government anything.

The right to freedom of assembly does not cost the government anything.

The "right" to a free education is very costly to the taxpayer.

The "right" to free health care is very costly to the taxpayer.

The "right" to free food is very costly to the taxpayer.

The "right" to free housing is very costly to the taxpayer.

This is what I think a right IS and IS NOT.
