There was a time in our lives when things were simpler and much easier to understand when we went about our daily lives. The kids had breakfast at the table with Mom and Dad before heading off to school and Mom always spoke to us about how to conduct ourselves in school. Although Dad was reading the newspaper as he sipped his coffee, he was tuned in to all that was going on around him. Nice thought.

The television stations, maybe two or three of them, started their broadcast day around 6 a.m. and the first thing they aired was the American national anthem along with some patriotic photos.

Imagine my delight when one morning I was up early enough turned the TV on and tuned in to the FOX Newsroom at 1344 HD, from Comporium. I try to watch as much news as possible from CNN, ABC, NBC and many others in order to see all opinions and all the news. My heart swelled with pride when exactly at 6 a.m ., I watched FOX broadcast the “Star Spangled Banner” and showed many wonderful and patriotic photos. It seems FOX does this each Saturday and Sunday morning and during the work week when time permits.

There was a time when all Americans were proud of their country and were proud to call America home. I know I was and still am a proud American and still proud to call America home. I served for 24 years in the U.S. Army and took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States and I stand by that oath today, almost 30 years after I retired from the same Army.

I can still remember when…
