Hi Emily! I agree, that is definitely confusing. Ghee is butter that has had all the milkfat solids removed. The 4th and Heart website includes an FAQ which reads:

Ghee is butter, but better.

It’s a type of clarified butter that is heated and reduced. During this process, milk solids will both float to the top and sink to the bottom.

The milk solids are then triple-filtered out, and what you’re left with is the pure healthy fat, which is lactose free & dairy free, as well as good for digestion and metabolism.

Since our ghee is made from 100% grass-fed butter, it has a wonderful yellow color and is high in vitamins A, D & E.

Our ghee is 0% Dairy. It has been tested and is one part per million dairy. (But, if people say they are allergic, do not force them to try it.)

I hope that helps! Best of luck on your Whole30 and let me know if you have any other questions!

I picked up a sample size of Ghee butter from Whole Foods, the brand is 4th & Heart. Where I am confused is the ingredients are: clarified butter (milk), and garlic. I know when making clarified butter the dairy is taken out. Does this ghee butter mean they readded it, or the milk was originally in it.

Thanks much for your response, Jessica. Helpful to know about the increase in plant based foods and extra fiber when one is on the whole30. Makes sense. Thanks, again!

Hi Laura,

It's not uncommon when you transition to eating more plants and fiber to experience increased gassiness. It really just depends on the person, where they started from, and what they are consuming on their Whole30. If you have concerns I would definitely see a doctor, but it's not uncommon with an increase in fiber and plants.

We typically eat eggs with avocado or salad in a.m. and good quality meat with veggie and salad in p.m. I know you can’t make a diagnosis, but just wondering if this has been anyone else’s experience.

Correct! As long as there aren't added sweeteners, etc. Natural flavor is fine.

Hi Tina - are you using a regular blender/food processor, or an immersion blender? The technique is dependent on the equipment. If you can tell me what you're using, I can try and provide a couple of tips for success!
